Knife attack in San Marcos store leaves two injured
SAN MARCOS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Two people were sent to the hospital with injuries after an argument turned violent in San Marcos on Wednesday, authorities said.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, the situation unfolded around 12:20 p.m. when a group was reportedly shopping together at a store located within the 1300 block of East Mission Road.
Two males in the group started arguing and the altercation quickly escalated. Police said one of them, now identified as 20-year-old Edwin Mendoza, brandished a knife and attacked his counterpart. The victim sustained multiple serious injuries.
A female companion of the two men tried to intervene during the altercation and was also injured by the suspect, police said.
Several firefighters from the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District were nearby when the attack occurred and intervened. The firefighters separated the men, detaining Mendoza until police arrived on scene.
The firefighters also provided aid to the victims until they were both transported to a local hospital. The injured man suffered life-threatening injuries, while the female's injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening. Both are reported to be in stable condition.
Mendoza was arrested and booked in the Vista Detention Facility.
