Kehoe lowers flags to honor Mo. soldier killed in helicopter crash

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Governor Mike Kehoe is ordering all flags in Missouri to fly at half-staff, honoring the life of Chief Warrant Officer Andrew Cully, who was one of the four soldiers killed in a military helicopter crash in September.

“We will lower the flags across our state on Saturday as a solemn reminder that Andrew's service and sacrifice to our nation will never be forgotten. Claudia and I join the family, friends, loved ones, and military brothers and sisters of Chief Warrant Officer Cully in remembering a dedicated and humble American hero," Kehoe said.

The crash occurred on Sept. 17, during an aviation training exercise, according to the governor's office. Those lost in the crash, alongside Cully, a native of Sparta, Missouri, were identified as:

  • Andrew Kraus of Sanibel, Florida
  • Donavon Scott of Tacoma, Washington
  • Jadalyn Good of Mount Vernon, Washington

“Missourians join Americans from across our nation in mourning four United States Army soldiers who lost their lives in a tragic training accident," Kehoe said.

In tribute to Cully's service, U.S. and Missouri flags will be flown at half-staff at government buildings for one day, Oct. 11, from sunrise to sunset. Kehoe's proclamation can be viewed here.
