Juvenile suspect charged with murder in 2021 Bay Terraces shooting
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The San Diego Police Department announced Monday the arrest of the suspected shooter from a 2021 homicide in the Bay Terraces community that left 23-year-old Reginald Mitchell dead.
According to authorities, the suspected shooter has been identified, but since the suspect was a juvenile during the time of the shooting, their identity is being withheld. The suspect was already in custody for an unrelated charge and is now also charged with the murder of Mitchell.
On July 21, 2021, officers reportedly received a call of a foul odor coming from a vehicle located at Casey Street and Appian Drive.
Officers found Mitchell dead inside the vehicle, and one of the windows of the vehicle had apparent gunshots in it, according to authorities.
Witnesses reportedly said a man had been living out of the vehicle for several months and that gunshots had been heard in the area recently.
