Juvenile charged as adult in 2024 Lemay fatal shooting

CLAYTON, Mo. – A 17-year-old will stand trial as an adult in the shooting death of another teenager in 2024.

According to a St. Louis County Police Department spokesperson, the shooting happened around 12:50 p.m. on Aug. 20, at a home in the 300 block of Goetz Avenue in Lemay.

Officers arrived to find Amorion Fuller suffering from gunshot wounds to his neck. Fuller was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 16.

Police said Derion Davis, Fuller, and another juvenile were spending the night at the residence.

Sometime in the morning, Davis and Fuller got into an argument. Davis grabbed his gun and was able to take possession of Fuller’s gun as well.

Police said Davis pointed both guns—a 9mm pistol and a .40 caliber pistol—at Fuller as the argument continued. Fuller stepped toward Davis, who then shot him.

Davis ran from the home while the other juvenile went to a neighbor’s house to call police.

After learning Davis’ identity, investigators obtained search warrants for his social media accounts, police said. Davis performed searches to learn how to disable his Instagram account, to see if the shooting was in the news, and to see if “the Feds come get a juvenile.”

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Davis with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Davis remains jailed on a $200,000 cash-only bond. He has a bond reduction hearing scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 1, followed by a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
