John Mozeliak honored at Cardinals' final home game ahead of departure
ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Cardinals executive John Mozeliak was honored with a pregame ceremony Sunday afternoon ahead of the team's final home game of the 2025 regular season.
The Cardinals honored Mozeliak, the team's president of baseball operations, at Busch Stadium Sunday afternoon during the team's final homestand against the Milwaukee Brewers. The ceremony comes as Mozeliak is set to step down from his position at the season's conclusion after spending 30 years with the team.
During the ceremony, the Cardinals played a video tribute showcasing various moments on and off the field, including the club's 2011 World Series championship season. Mozeliak was accompanied by his family on the field and also had the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch to his son.
Mozeliak's departure comes after several lackluster seasons from the Cardinals. Since winning the 2011 World Series and advancing to the 2013 Fall Classic, the Cardinals have won only two postseason series (2014 and 2019 NLDS) under Mozeliak's leadership.
Mozeliak will be replaced by Chaim Bloom, who signed a five-year contract to serve as the team's new president of baseball operations.
