Hungary confirms lifting of blockade on Ukrainian media introduced under its former PM
The Hungarian government has confirmed the restoration of access to a number of Ukrainian online media outlets after restrictions introduced during the premiership of Viktor Orbán.

Details: Zoltán Tarr noted that, together with the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, a decision had been taken to lift the restrictions on access to Ukrainian media introduced by the Orbán government.
"In 2025, Fidesz arbitrarily banned access in Hungary to Ukrainian media in response to Ukraine blocking access to Hungarian media outlets that had issues with journalistic ethics and spread Russian propaganda and scare stories about World War Three. The media that spread Russian propaganda cannot be equated with genuine independent press – neither in Hungary nor anywhere in the world," Zoltán Tarr explained.
"The previous government constantly tried to deepen the divide between us, and the blocking of these outlets had no other purpose than that. Our task is to build good neighbourly relations, which will improve the situation of the Hungarian minority. And we are on this path, and thanks to our historic agreement, in just a few weeks we have achieved more than the previous government did in 16 years," the minister added.

- Among the media that had been blocked in Hungary under the Orbán government were Ukrainian publications, including Ukrainska Pravda and European Pravda.
- Hungarian internet providers began restricting access to a number of Ukrainian media outlets at the end of September 2025. The Orbán government introduced the ban after Ukraine blocked several Hungarian websites that had been spreading Russian propaganda.
