Hockey is back! The San Diego Gulls get set for the season

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- October means hockey is back, and the San Diego Gulls are kicking off the season with a number of events.

On Tuesday, Oct. 7, the team will be gathering with special guests to celebrate legend Willie O'Ree's 90th birthday. The event will take place at the Rooftop Cinema Club Embarcadero from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $75 with proceeds going to the San Diego Gulls Foundation.

Then on Oct. 16, the team will be unveiling their 10th anniversary special jerseys. That event is happening at Pechanga Arena and will feature an opportunity to skate on the ice.

The team's home opener against Henderson is slated for Oct. 18. The puck is slated to drop at 6 p.m. with plenty of pre-game fun.
