“He has literally just given order”: Russia doesn’t want Ukrainian land. Russia wants Ukraine erased, says expert

Russia has no intention of peace. Moscow is not fighting for individual pieces of Ukrainian territory but for complete victory in its war, said former company commander of the Ukrainian “Aidar” battalion, Yevhen Dykyi, according to Kyiv24.
Putin plans to expand a buffer zone in occupied territories of Ukraine
According to Dykyi, the Russians have never retreated from their goal of the destruction of Ukraine.
“When you fight for total victory, where your goal is the elimination of the Ukrainian state ... then any section of the front becomes a target.
You only evaluate where the situation is most favorable to push back the enemy, that is, us,” emphasized the expert.
According to him, Putin’s recent statement about expanding the buffer zone in Ukraine confirms this. While supposedly talks about negotiations have been ongoing for a month, the Russian president "has set everything in place," Dykyi said.
Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy: all in Russia's plan
“He has literally just given the order to create a buffer zone — in other words, to expand the occupied territory in three more regions: Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy,” Dykyi noted.
The creation of a buffer zone indicates a lack of intention for peace because it effectively means expanding the occupied territories at Ukraine’s expense.
If Russia truly intended peace, it would not continue seizing new land or plan to extend control over Ukrainian territory.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained when the war in Ukraine could end, per Fox News. According to him, the main point of contention remains the 20% of Donetsk Oblast still under Ukrainian control.
