Groundbreaking set for Monday morning for airport snow removal facility
ST. LOUIS - Ground is set to be broken Monday morning on a new airfield maintenance and snow removal equipment facility at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
The facility will be located on the 11400 block of Navaid Road and is part of the airport's West Airfield Program, aimed at modernizing operations and improving passenger service.
The new complex will be 285,000 square feet and will consolidate critical airfield operations, including snow removal, the airport auto shop, materials warehousing, landscaping, and maintenance into one centralized location.
The maintenance facility is going to cost nearly $115 million with funding coming from grants and bonds. The new maintenance complex is expected to be completed by late 2027.
Currently, these different functions are spread across nine outdated buildings, some of which are more than 50 years old.
After the maintenance facility is completed, work will begin on the West Deicing Pad, which will be built where the existing airfield maintenance facility now sits.
