Ground stop lifted at San Diego International Airport after aircraft emergency
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI)-- A ground stop that was issued Wednesday at San Diego International Airport (SAN) for all flights due to an aircraft emergency has been lifted.
Around 9:23 p.m., the runway reopened after a private aircraft attempting to take off from SAN reported difficulty with its landing gear, according to the airport's Communications Program Director Jonathan Heller.
The ground stop, which was issued at 7:18 p.m., prevented inbound flights from entering SAN and outbound flights from leaving SAN. All inbound flights were diverted to other airports.
"The aircraft came to a stop without any injuries to those on board; however, it became disabled on the runway, causing the runway’s temporary closure," Heller said.
