Ground drones travel 56 km to evacuate two wounded Ukrainian soldiers – video
Ukrainian forces used ground robotic systems in a 15-hour evacuation operation to extract two wounded soldiers who had been unable to leave their positions for several days following a Russian attack. The unmanned systems travelled 56 km to reach and evacuate them.

Details: Soldiers from the 110th Brigade were wounded during a Russian attack on their positions. One of them was in a serious condition. A decision was made to evacuate the infantrymen using a ground robot, with the operation carried out by operators from the Tryhlav company.
The first drone sent to reach the wounded soldiers was destroyed by a Russian landmine.
"The second drone was immediately dispatched. The drone reached the red zone. Even after the soldiers had been evacuated, the challenges continued. On the return route, the drone became entangled in engineering obstacles," the brigade said in a report on the operation.
The Tryhlav operators deployed a third ground drone to evacuate the wounded soldiers, enabling them to board the platform. Throughout the mission, the drone carrying the infantrymen was accompanied by an aerial reconnaissance unit from the brigade. The wounded soldiers were successfully delivered to medics of the 110th Mechanised Brigade and subsequently evacuated to hospital.
"From 1 to 3 June, we couldn't leave our position because of strikes and drones overhead. Basically, everything was hitting around us; we couldn't even lift our heads. But we were saved by a ground drone that showed up unexpectedly and got us out over rough terrain. I wish we had more vehicles like that," said one of the infantrymen evacuated by the ground drones.
In total, the operation lasted 15 hours, with the ground crew covering around 56 km along roads near the front line. The brigade describes the mission as the most difficult in the history of the Tryhlav company.
Background: Ukrainska Pravda reported earlier that fighters from Ukraine's 66th Separate Mechanised Brigade had evacuated four wounded soldiers using ground robotic systems over the course of a single day. The Third Army Corps has carried out more than 18,000 missions using ground robotic systems over a year, evacuating over 600 wounded soldiers and transporting 4,500 tonnes of cargo.
Ukraine's Defence Ministry reported that the Ukrainian military had carried out more than 50,000 logistics and evacuation missions using ground robotic systems between January and early June 2026.
