Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District looks to fill board vacancy
EL CAJON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is looking to fill an open seat on the Board of Trustees.
The vacant position is for the board member responsible for Trustee Area 1, which includes the cities and communities of Santee, Winter Gardens and Lakeside.
The position opened up in July when former trustee Desiree Klaar stepped down from her role after moving out of the area. Klaar had served on the board as a trustee since 2022, according to the district.
Members of the community are invited to apply for the position. If appointed, the trustee would be responsible for attending monthly board meetings, showing commitment to the mission and functions of the community colleges within the district and other duties to support the board as a whole.
The appointed board member would serve until the next Governing Board election, which is scheduled for November 2026, and continue in their role until their successor takes over.
Those interested in applying can learn more about the position on the district's website. The application can also be found online.
To qualify, interested applicants must be at least 18 years old, be a registered voter, live in any of the communities within Trustee Area 1 and must not be disqualified from holding civil office by the Constitution or any California state law.
