Gold Digger and West can take my money

ONE of my biggest fancies of the week comes in the Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes (6:10pm).

Many will see this 28-runner five-furlong handicap as a bookies’ benefit, but I think it’s time to roll up the sleeves and have a proper go.

GOLD DIGGER, who I really fancied in the Albany last year, is back and I think she’s now off a very lenient mark.

She promises to be quite a special filly and 8/1 (at the time of writing on Thursday) looks overpriced.

I expect her to be a big public gamble and go off much shorter, so take the 8/1 and then keep an eye on the World Pool prices on the day as that could well beat SP.

She’s a Group horse masquerading as a handicapper. I know the high regard that connections hold her in, and if they’re right then she isn’t a 90-rated filly. I’d say that’s 10-15lbs lower than her true rating.

Her draw in 10 might not be ideal, with a lot of the action unfolding on the stand’s side so far this week, but that can change as we get into days four and five and it doesn’t put me off.

WESTPORT will have to cope with stall three but he looks talented in his own right, so if you’re looking to play an Exacta or Quinella on the World Pool, then he’s the one to roll into that with Gold Digger.
