ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A teenager killed late Wednesday afternoon in Glasgow Village was an innocent bystander struck by a stray bullet.

According to Vera Clay, a St. Louis County Police Department spokeswoman, the shooting happened around 6:10 p.m. in the 10200 block of Hobkirk Drive.

Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation and a 911 call for a shooting. Officers arrived to find the victim, Duwan Morgan, dead inside his home. Morgan was 14.

Police said several people in the area were shooting at each other when Morgan was wounded.

A nearby resident who witnessed the entire incident outside of her home said she couldn't help but feel for the victim's mother as she sobbed at the news that her son did not survive.

“She was just wailing,” the resident said. “The mother's grief, it was so intense, I just wanted to give her a hug because I know how it is to lose a son.”

The same resident said this is not the first time she’s witnessed violence in their neighborhood.

“They're killing innocent victims. If they have beef, they should be put out somewhere where it's safe,” the resident said. “There's innocent people out here trying to live and make a living and when they kill people's sons or daughters or moms or fathers, that hurts.

The investigation is still ongoing.
