Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces (SBS) announced on 30 September that drone operators from the 412th Nemesis Regiment destroyed four North Korean-made Koksan self-propelled howitzers operated by Russian troops in southern and eastern Ukraine. One strike involved coordination with other Ukrainian Defense Forces units.

North Korea, Russia’s main artillery ammunition supplier in its war against Ukraine, transferred various artillery systems to Russian forces, including up to 200 M-1978 Koksan self-propelled howitzers. The 170 mm Koksan, one of the longest-range tube artillery systems globally, arrived to help restore Russia’s artillery strength after major battlefield losses in artillery systems.

SBS published video of the operation on its official Telegram channel.

The video shared by the Unmanned Systems Forces shows a drone spotting the first Koksan howitzer, followed by a munition drops directly onto the target.

The footage then captures more munition drops on three more howitzers, with a reconnaissance drone recording the impact from a distance, confirming the successful hits.

Soldiers from the Asgard battalion, part of the 412th Nemesis Regiment of SBS, later struck the fourth Koksan using a first-person-view drone. Reconnaissance drones recorded the impact from a distance.
