Former Russian president tells EU leaders to shut up and threatens further drone strikes
Dmitry Medvedev, former Russian president and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, has told EU leaders to "shut up" and expect further drone strikes on their territory.

Details: In a post filled with insults, Medvedev aggressively mocked European outrage over a Russian Shahed drone striking a high-rise residential building in the Romanian city of Galați.
"The Euro-impotents are throwing a fit over a drone hitting some residential building in Romania," he wrote.
Medvedev claimed that European countries have no right to complain, arguing that they are "direct participants in the war against Russia" because they provide Ukraine with weapons and drone components and share intelligence.
Such statements echo long-standing Kremlin propaganda rhetoric, which falsely claims that Russia is fighting a war against NATO on Ukrainian territory. In April, Moscow had already threatened to launch strikes on European companies involved in drone production.
Medvedev blamed European leaders for strikes on Russian territory and threatened that similar incidents in EU nations would continue to happen.
Quote: "This won't be the last time. There's a war going on! And citizens of EU countries, as the population of nations at war, shouldn't be going to sleep expecting peaceful nights. Especially around drone factories supplying the Banderite forces. So shut your piehole. You haven't seen anything yet." ["Banderite" is a pejorative term derived from the name of Ukrainian nationalist leader Stepan Bandera and is widely used in Russian propaganda to label Ukrainians or supporters of Ukrainian statehood – ed.]
Background:
- During another Russian attack on Ukraine on the night of 28-29 May, a Russian drone entered Romanian airspace and crashed into the roof of a 10-storey residential building in Galați. The incident triggered a fire, injured two people and forced the evacuation of 70 residents.
- The Romanian Foreign Ministry described the incident as a "serious and irresponsible escalation" by Russia and summoned the Russian Ambassador Vladimir Lipaev. Furthermore, Bucharest declared Andrei Kosilin, the Russian Consul General in Constanta, persona non grata and decided to close the Russian consulate general in that city.
- The Romanian authorities also appealed to NATO to speed up the delivery of additional anti-drone defence systems.
- NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte condemned Russia's actions, calling them irresponsible and said the Alliance is ready to defend every inch of Allied territory.
