Forest Park in St. Louis receives 2025 Landmark Award

ST. LOUIS - Forest Park in St. Louis has been awarded the 2025 Landmark Award by the American Society of Landscape Architects.

The award celebrates the restoration efforts led by HOK, Forest Park Forever, and the City of St. Louis, that began in 2000. The project revamped key areas like the Grand Basin, Government Hill, and Post-Dispatch Lake, preserving the park's historic design while making upgrades for the community.

The restoration project was first started to address the fact that Forest Park was deteriorating, as the park had suffered from decades of neglect. The combined effort looked to help restore the park’s role as being a beloved part of the city ahead of its 100th anniversary in 2004.

The team revitalized historic landmarks, ecosystems, and modernized various amenities around the park. This included updating fountains and lights, improving walkability, and introducing more sustainable and accessible features.

Aside from improving the landscape at Forest Park, HOK has also contributed to improvements in the St. Louis Planetarium, Missouri History Museum, and Saint Louis Art Museum.
