Food Network crowns Kansas City pizza slice as Missouri's best, thanks to its St. Louis style
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - One can say the two major cities in Missouri---St. Louis and Kansas City---enjoy friendly competition, especially when it comes to food. A large food outlet's ranking of a particular dish managed to compliment both.
Food Network recently released a list of where to find the best slice of pizza in all 50 states. In the Show Me State, Kansas City took the spot with Waldo Pizza.
Despite the winner being in Kansas City, food writer Sara Ventiera commemorated Waldo Pizza for its St. Louis-style with the paper-thin crust and Provel cheese. According to the Food Network list, they add in whole milk mozzarella and muenster to their cheese mix.
Located at 7433 Broadway St., the pizza joint has been serving customers in the area for over 30 years, according to their website. Their menu ranges from pizza, pasta, sandwiches and drinks.
Happy hour is held every day between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in addition to a buffet on Monday and specials offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Waldo Pizza has a 4.5-star rating on Google Reviews, with many complimenting the atmosphere, gluten free and vegan options and the classic slices.
So, if you're ever in Kansas City and needing a slice as a reminder of St. Louis, you know where to find it.
