Firefighters stop forward progress of brush fire in Emerald Hills
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A brush fire erupted close to homes in San Diego's Emerald Hills neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The fire was reported in the area of Elwood Avenue and Hilltop Drive around 3 p.m. At the time, it was about a quarter-acre with one structure reportedly being threatened at the top of a hill.
San Diego Fire-Rescue told FOX 5/KUSI the fire was burning dangerously close to structures.
The forward progress of the fire was stopped around 3:15 p.m. Crews stayed at the scene for mop-up work, place flame retardant on hot spots and clear vegetation.
