Fairview Park debuts first commissioned mural

ST. LOUIS - A new mural, symbolizing peace, was revealed at north St. Louis’ Fairground Park on Tuesday.

The mural was developed by Fatou Kabir, as well as other local community members.

On the mural, the linked hands are depicted in various skin tones, symbolizing solidarity.

A peace sign is also on the mural, calling for harmony. The surrounding native flowers, butterflies and bees reflect growth and renewal, Kabir says.

Kabir—who describes herself as a public arts contractor—says the mural celebrates peace, faith, love and hope.

This reveal is the first commissioned mural at Fairground Park, according to the City of St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation & Forestry.
