Electric moped driver suspected of DUI hit by vehicle in La Jolla
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- An electric moped driver suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol was seriously injured in a crash Wednesday in La Jolla, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 3:49 p.m. in the 6400 block of Mount Soledad Road, the San Diego Police Department said in a news release.
Authorities say a 57-year-old man driving an electric moped south violated the right of way for the 46-year-old driver in a 2014 Nissan Altima Sedan traveling north at the T-intersection of Soledad Mountain Road and Caminito Blytheville.
The man on the moped was hit by the Nissan Altima, causing him to be taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver of the Altima was not injured.
SDPD determined the 57-year-old man to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
