Eat, drink, and be zesty at annual Chula Vista Lemon Festival
CHULA VISTA (FOX 5/KUSI)--When life gives you lemons, go a step above making lemonade and immerse yourself in a zesty lemon festival.
Downtown Chula Vista, which was once known as the "Lemon Capital of the World," will host the 28th Annual Lemon Festival on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., when Third Avenue will transform into a lemon-filled extravaganza complete with a lineup of live music across two stages.
The free festival will also have delicious food options, a beer and wine garden, arts and crafts vendors, a kids' zone for "Lil' Lemons," a lemon cookoff competition, and, of course, plenty of zesty photo opportunities.
This year's festivities will also feature a pair of fun contests for attendees to participate in.
The Lemon Pie Eating Contest will take place on the Zesty Stage at 2:00 p.m., while the Best Dressed of the Lemon Fest Contest will be judged at 3:30 p.m. on the Juicy Stage.
Both contests require online applications to be filled out beforehand, and prizes include gift cards and goodies from local businesses.
