While the world is only beginning to adapt to Kyiv’s innovative drone interceptors, Ukraine has advanced further by deploying operators for next-generation ground robotic systems. These specialists handle logistics, evacuate the wounded, and control combat drones while remaining out of direct danger, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reports.

Heavy versions of these ground systems can carry up to 500 kilograms of cargo and traverse tens of kilometers over rough terrain. Their functionality constantly expands: the platforms conduct logistics operations, drone evacuations, and drone deliveries without risking human lives.

The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that modern warfare dictates one rule: “machines fight, not people.”

High-tech control stations: operator’s workspace

The operator’s station for ground drones resembles a high-tech command center. Equipment includes medium and heavy tracked and wheeled drones, control consoles, ground stations, and rugged laptops and tablets with navigation.

Operators monitor, control, and maintain systems in real time, using batteries, charging stations, portable power units, and communication systems—radios, antennas, and relay devices. Crews are additionally equipped with electronic warfare tools, repair kits, and tactical gear.

Innovative equipment and advanced observation tools

Each ground platform is equipped with day and night cameras, communication systems, and data transmission channels, enabling effective operation in any conditions.

The ministry notes that training for this specialty starts with basic military preparation, followed by an intensive professional phase, including:

  • Advanced tactical medicine;
  • Mastery of hardware-software complexes, navigation, and radio systems;
  • Intensive practice controlling different types of drones;
  • Additional training in camouflage and the operation of supplementary power and communication equipment.

Control console as key to efficiency: ergonomics

The primary interface with the platform is the control console, which manages drone movement, communication channels, and data transfer. Key features include:

  • Ergonomics and ease of use;
  • Autonomous power for extended operations;
  • Stable communication with minimal latency;
  • Protection against enemy interference for safe frontline operation.
