Details: Doctors diagnosed one of the brothers with a comminuted fracture of the left elbow joint, as well as multiple wounds to the torso and face with foreign bodies embedded in the soft tissues.

His condition was stabilised in hospital before he underwent emergency surgery. Doctors fitted him with an external fixation device.

He is now receiving treatment in the orthopaedics and traumatology department. Ohmatdyt said the boy faces a lengthy period of treatment and rehabilitation.

His younger brother sustained less serious injuries. The two-year-old was diagnosed with bruising and a haematoma of the soft tissues of the left thigh. Following examinations, doctors decided that he could be treated on an outpatient basis.

  • Law enforcement officials said that her elder son was admitted to intensive care in a serious condition.
  • Social media users had claimed that the boys' grandmother had also died that night. Police denied the reports, stating that the deceased woman, aged about 76, had no family connection to them.
