Discover hidden surf gems and support locals with Waverii

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Surfing isn’t just about chasing waves.

The people, places and cultures make each break unique. Yet, surf travel often overlooks local providers who know the waves best, especially in less commercialized surf regions.

Waverii is changing that. Created by surfers, for surfers, it’s a global marketplace that simply connects traveling surfers with authentic surf experiences and services, redirecting surf-travel spending back into local communities.

In just eight weeks, the platform has grown to over 300 listings across 30 countries–ranging from a women’s surf retreat in Los Angeles, to adaptive surfing in the United Kingdom, to video analysis sessions in Spain.

Waverii’s roots trace back to 2013, when founder and surf historian Jason Old set off on his first surf trip to the Galapágos. With little guidance to navigate the islands, he quickly realized how difficult it was to access authentic surf knowledge.

That insight sparked the idea behind Waverii, which aims to make those connections seamless.

“I realized that a lot of the people that I’ve really enjoyed surfing with or connecting with around the world, you would have never found them online,” Old said. “That’s really at the heart of what Waverii is.”

While Waverii helps some individuals get waves, it simultaneously creates opportunities for those who lack the resources to build their own online presence and compete with large platforms. Serving as a global storefront, the platform is helping them connect with customers who were once out of reach.

From smooth peelers to heavy breakers, Waverii is helping surfers everywhere discover their next wave while ensuring that locals benefit. Learn more, explore waves or turn surf knowledge into income on waverii.com

Plus, the journey is just getting started. In the near future, Waverii plans to launch a mobile app, open ad space for brands that align with its values, partner with sustainable groups and more.
