Details emerge of visit to Berlin by Ukraine's chief negotiator

In Germany, Rustem Umierov, Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council (NSDC), has discussed defence cooperation with Günter Sautter, the German chancellor's adviser on Ukraine.

Source: Diana Davitian, Umierov's spokesperson, in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine, a Ukrainian news agency, as reported by European Pravda.

Details: Davitian confirmed media reports that Umierov arrived in Berlin on 26 May.

Quote: "Rustem Umierov is working in Berlin. He has met with his counterpart Günter Sautter. They discussed security issues, the peace negotiation process and defence cooperation, including the Drone Deal between Ukraine and Germany."

More details: Davitian reported that the issue of the "limited EU membership" has not been discussed.

She also announced that Umierov will visit several other European capitals this week.

  • It was reported that Umierov met Björn Seibert, Head of the Cabinet of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, in Brussels to discuss EU-Ukraine defence cooperation.
