CSU San Marcos sorority has its charter revoked
(FOX 5/KUSI) — A sorority at California State University, San Marcos has had its charter revoked by the national organization, university officials confirmed to FOX 5/KUSI on Thursday.
A statement provided by the university reads, in part, "Alpha Kappa Delta Phi International Sorority, Inc. has informed the university that it has revoked the charter of its CSUSM pre‑associate chapter following an investigation conducted by the national organization."
The statement does not specify the reason for the revocation, but the campus's statement also states, "CSUSM respects and supports that decision. CSUSM remains committed to a safe and inclusive fraternity and sorority community and prohibits hazing in accordance with California law and CSU policy. Our chapter status page reflects current standing."
FOX 5/KUSI have reached out to the sorority and are awaiting a response.
The website for the national sorority states that the sorority chapter at CSUSM has "been deemed inactive," and advises students not to join any chapter claiming to be affiliated with the national organization.
Previous emails from the national organization state that the CSUSM chapter was officially established in 2015 and was the organization's 50th chapter.
