Community rallies to help Oakville man after truck theft

OAKVILLE, Mo. - A beloved Oakville man known for his kindness lost his only lifeline to independence.

According to 62-year-old Raymond Lord, his truck means the world to him, and now, it’s stolen. Lord told FOX 2 he relies on his vehicle to get to work and get his medicine.

Raymond has worked as a dishwasher at McDonald’s for over five years and has lived independently, despite his disability. But on Wednesday, everything changed.

“I got up at like 7:30/8 o’clock in the morning to use the restroom. And I looked outside, and I saw it was gone,” Lord said.

Raymond’s caretaker, Stacy Bierman, was just as shocked.

“This is Ray’s only thing that’s he’s ever owned,” Bierman said. “And he paid for himself. His mom and dad helped him with it when they were alive. And after they passed away, the truck is really the only thing he has left.”

Without his truck, Ray is remaining optimistic, as he’s receiving help from the community.

“I think it’s excellent. I appreciate it,” Ray said.

His family told FOX 2 that any donation will go toward an inexpensive, yet reliable car for Ray so he can continue sustaining his independent lifestyle.

The donation can be found here.
