Community members raise a pint to help tornado victims rebuild

ST. LOUIS - Running until the end of August 2025, Urban Chestnut Brewing Company is joining Fordo’s Killer Pizza and Purina to offer a promotion called “Raise a Pint for St. Louis,” providing assistance to those affected by the May 16 tornado.

At the Urban Chestnut’s Brewery and Bierhall in The Grove, dine-in customers are encouraged to purchase a $50 bundle containing:

  • Two “Raise a Pint” T-shirts
  • Two “Raise a Pint” steins with an Urban Chestnut beer of choice
  • An 18-inch pizza from Fordo’s (located inside the brewery)
  • Purina dog or cat treats.

Brian Travers, owner of Urban Chestnut Brewing Company, explained how all the proceeds from the $50 packs will support tornado victim relief through United Way.

“All proceeds to the initiative go to the United Way of Greater Saint Louis,” Travers said. “To directly help them in their efforts to help families rebuild.”

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, Mayor Cara Spencer stopped by the Urban Chestnut location in The Grove. She commended the initiative of everyone supporting their neighbors left in the wake of the tornado.

“So many residents—people are continuing to come out,” Spencer told FOX 2. “And recognize the ongoing need and are willing to not only raise a pint but also raise some dollars and invest in the long-term recovery of the tornado.”
