Claim that Putin has rejected US peace plan is wrong, Kremlin spokesperson says
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has said that it is wrong to state that Russian leader Vladimir Putin has rejected the US "peace plan" to end Russia's war against Ukraine.

Details: Asked whether it would be accurate to say that Putin rejected the American plan during the meeting on 2 December, Peskov replied: "No, that would not be correct."
He said that 2 December marked the first direct exchange of views between Russian and US representatives on the "peace plan".
Quote: "Some things were accepted, some were described as unacceptable. This is a normal working process and a search for compromise."
Background:
- On 2 December, Russian leader Vladimir Putin met with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law. The meeting lasted nearly five hours.
- After talks with representatives of Trump's team, Yuri Ushakov, an aide to Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, said that no compromise version of a plan to end the war in Ukraine has been found so far.
- Intelligence available to the North Atlantic Alliance has not indicated that Putin is ready for a peace agreement.
- Alliance officials believe he is bluffing when he says Russia is ready to fight a war with Europe.
