Child sex offender living in San Diego daycare arrested by ICE
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A man with a history of child sex offenses and ties to a gang in San Diego has been arrested by federal law enforcement agents, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said.
On Wednesday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials arrested 47-year-old Ezequiel Cruz-Rodriguez, a Mexican national and documented member of the Logan Heights gang who was allegedly living illegally in the U.S.

According to DHS, Cruz-Rodriguez was first deported to Mexico on Aug. 23, 1996. He was removed a second time on Oct. 28, 2023, followed by a third incident on Dec. 14, 2012.
His extensive criminal history includes sex offenses involving a child under the age of 14, sexual battery, illegal possession of a firearm, driving under the influence and robbery.
"It is sickening to think that Ezequiel Cruz-Rodriguez, a 47-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, and pedophile criminal illegal alien was residing inside the home where a daycare operates," DHS posted on X.
At the time of his latest arrest, Cruz-Rodriguez was living with his wife, who operates an in-home daycare, according to DHS.
