Child accidentally shoots brother with rifle left on the couch
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A man has been charged with child endangerment after a child accidentally shot his brother with a loaded rifle left on the couch.
According to court documents, Jarez Wilson, 30, of St. John, Missouri, allegedly left the loaded AK-47 rifle inside of a bag on the couch accessible to the children.
Police said a child at the house began playing with the firearm and accidentally discharged the rifle, hitting his brother's abdomen. The brother was taken to Children's Hospital for treatment.
Wilson admitted to police he owned the rifle and left the gun bag unattended near the children. Wilson was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child. He was given a $150,000 bond and received a warrant for his arrest on Monday.
