ST. LOUIS – After more than six years, charges have been filed for a fatal shooting on Roosevelt High School’s campus.

According to Evita Caldwell, a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman, the shooting happened just after midnight on May 23, 2019, in the 3200 block of Hartford Street.

Police responded to a shooting call in the area and found the victim, Kristina Curry, in the school parking lot. Curry had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was 16. Five 9mm shell casings were found near Curry's body.

Homicide detectives eventually identified and apprehended Marquise A. Quinn, now 26, in connection with the killing.

Police said Curry and Quinn were in a romantic relationship. Curry believed she'd become pregnant and that Quinn was the father. They exchanged text messages about the situation.

On May 22, they texted and agreed to meet at the Roosevelt High School parking lot, where Curry's body would later be discovered. Investigators said Quinn was the last person Curry had texted and that her phone was last unlocked just after midnight, prior to the shooting.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Quinn on Monday with first-degree murder. Quinn remains jailed without bond. Online court records do not show when Quinn will appear before a judge.
