ALPINE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A unique Halloween-themed event is taking place at an animal sanctuary in Alpine this October.

Lions Tigers & Bears is inviting families for a wild weekend under the stars. The sanctuary is hosting a "Spooky Campover" and "Pumpkin Bash," offering guests a rare chance to camp just feet away from rescued big cats and bears.

The overnight experience kicks off Friday, Oct. 24 with classic Halloween fun for all ages, including pumpkin carving, a haunted house, costume contest, and s’mores by the fire. While the kids sip hot cocoa, adults can enjoy themed cocktails at the Spookeasy bar. Campers will cook, dine, and sleep outdoors just steps from the animals’ habitats—an unforgettable chance to fall asleep to the sounds of lions roaring and bears rustling in the night.

"This once in a lifetime opportunity allows for a weekend full of fun," said a spokesperson with the sanctuary.

The next morning, guests will wake up to the roar of the sanctuary’s residents before watching the animals enjoy their own Halloween treats during the "Pumpkin Bash." Pumpkins filled with snacks and enrichment toys will be scattered throughout the habitats as part of the sanctuary’s seasonal celebration—giving visitors a front-row seat to see the animals pounce and play.

Space is limited, and tickets sell out quickly each year. Donations to attend are $50 per adult and $35 per child for members, and $80 per adult and $55 per child for non-members. All proceeds go directly to support the sanctuary’s rescue and care efforts.
