British Airways announces new nonstop flight from St. Louis to London
ST. LOUIS - Coming soon for St. Louis travelers: A new, nonstop international flight to London.
On Wednesday, British Airways officially announced new direct seasonal flight service from St. Louis to London.
Starting April 19, 2026, British Airways will begin seasonal service from St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) to London Heathrow Airport (LHR), connecting St. Louis travelers to one of the world's largest global hubs.
British Airways will operate four flights per week. Officials say the new nonstop service will provide customers with greater access and premium service to the United Kingdom and beyond.
"The is a great day for the future of St. Louis," said Ambassador Kevin F. O’Malley, Chair of the St. Louis County Port Authority which took the lead role in securing the contract. “Obtaining non-stop service between St. Louis and London has been a goal of the Port Authority and one which we are happy to announce today. With this new route, British Airways, a world-class international carrier, is recognizing the progress our City and County are making and the growing importance of the St. Louis region in the global economy.”
“British Airways’ decision to serve St. Louis is proof that our city belongs on the global stage,” said Mayor Cara Spencer. “This flight makes St. Louis more accessible to the world while giving our residents another seamless connection to Europe and beyond. It’s a win for our economy, for our reputation and for everyone who believes in the promise of St. Louis.”
Industry research and peer city benchmarks show that nonstop service to Europe could generate between $50 million and $100 million annually for a metro economy.
The new flight comes at a pivotal moment for St. Louis. Next year, the region prepares to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66 and also serve as a gateway to FIFA World Cup games in Kansas City and other nearby U.S. host cities.
“This new flight is a game changer for St. Louis,” said Brad Dean, President and CEO of Explore St. Louis. “It connects our region to the world, making St. Louis more accessible to international visitors and businesses while positioning us as a global destination. From tourism and conventions to major events and international trade, this flight elevates our brand and our reach exponentially.
“With this direct flight, we are connecting the St. Louis region to one of the world’s most popular destinations and growing our global reach,” said St. Louis County Executive Sam Page. “From the Gateway Arch to the Tower of London, this new fight will increase tourism and help meet the needs of the companies that do business here and in Europe.”
