Billboard sparks hope in mother’s disappearance
SULLIVAN, Mo. - A new billboard in Sullivan, Missouri, is reigniting hope in the search for Betty Alexander, who disappeared in 2019.
Betty Alexander vanished under mysterious circumstances, leaving her family desperate for answers.
Despite extensive searches involving dogs, drones, and foot patrols, no trace of her has been found.
Tonya Miller, Betty's daughter, recalling the day she found her mother's home locked with her belongings inside.
“It seems like the longer it goes, I’m just afraid people are going to forget. We’re never going to find her,” Miller said.
Betty’s oldest son, John Schoonveld, expressed that the family feels a renewed sense of hope with the billboard's installation.
“I mean a little bit of hope. Maybe there’s something. Maybe there is that missing piece that we’ve been searching for! Maybe something will come of this,” Schoonveld said.
FOX 2 is awaiting a response from Sullivan Police, but the Missouri State Highway Patrol has confirmed that the case remains open and investigators are following up on the family's new lead.
“We feel like it got to be some information, even if it’s really, really small,” Schoonveld said. “Just bring it forward. We just want to bring her home.”
