Bicyclist dies after colliding with pickup truck in Lemon Grove
LEMON GROVE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A bicyclist died Sunday night after crashing with a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Troy Street in Lemon Grove, according to the Lemon Grove Sheriff's Substation.
According to the report, on Oct. 5, around 9:30 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a severe collision in the 8500 block of Troy Street, east of the Camino De Las Palma intersection. When deputies arrived, they discovered a collision had occurred between a black pickup truck and a bicyclist.
The bicyclist was reportedly found lying on the eastbound lane of Troy Street, and paramedics tried to perform life-saving measures before the bicyclist was transported to the hospital. While at the hospital, the bicyclist succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead around 10:30 p.m.
According to authorities, DUI and reckless driving are not suspected in the collision, and the driver of the truck stayed at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities.
The victim's name is being withheld until his family is notified. The Lemon Grove Sheriff's Substation is encouraging anyone with information regarding the incident to call 619-337-2000.
