Bi-state burglar used girlfriend’s car to commit thefts: Investigators

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – A St. Louis man is facing burglary charges in both Missouri and Illinois for crimes committed over the past several weeks.

According to probable cause statements from the St. Charles County Police Department, the first theft occurred on Aug. 11 in the 200 block of Coachman Way in O’Fallon.

The victim told police she left her home around 11:30 a.m. She returned around 2 p.m. and saw that her kitchen window had been opened and the screen removed.

Four iPads, a purse containing $200 cash, a tape measure, and a cordless drill had been stolen. The total value of the stolen property added up to $2,458.

While speaking with neighbors about the burglary, police received a video of a blue 2013 Mazda 3 hatchback at the victim’s home. Investigators used traffic cameras and security footage to put the vehicle in other parts of St. Peters prior to the burglary.

The drill was later pawned that same day at a shop on South Broadway in St. Louis City, police said.

Police said two burglaries happened in Collinsville, Illinois, on Aug. 14. Investigators there identified their suspect with video and images of a blue 2013 Mazda 3 hatchback.

On Aug. 19, a Lake St. Louis woman contact St. Charles County police about a home burglary. She told officers she left her home around 4:30 p.m. and returned around 5:40 p.m. She searched her home and discovered several pieces of jewelry were missing, including $3,000 in costume jewelry, a $3,000 engagement ring, a pearl necklace worth $10,000, black and pearl earrings worth $1,000, and two diamond bracelets worth $1,000.

Police obtained doorbell camera footage from the neighborhood and saw the same blue 2013 Mazda 3 hatchback from the previous burglaries.

Authorities in all jurisdictions obtained the license plate from the vehicle and found that it was registered to a woman. While researching the woman, investigators discovered that she had a boyfriend, identified as Brandon L. Lundmark.

Collinsville police obtained a search warrant for Lundmark’s cell phone data, which placed him in the vicinity of their burglaries.

On Sept 3, O’Fallon, Lake St. Louis, and Collinsville police served a search warrant at Lundmark’s St. Louis home and found several pieces of stolen jewelry from the Aug. 19 break-in.

The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Lundmark with two counts of second-degree burglary and two counts of stealing – $750 or more. Lundmark is in on a $50,000 cash-only bond. He’s due in court on Wednesday, Sept. 10 for a bond hearing.

Lundmark has an extensive criminal history with three prior convictions for burglary, five prior convictions for stealing, and three prior convictions for receiving stolen property. He had been on probation for multiple burglaries when he committed these recent crimes, police said.

In addition, Lundmark was convicted for failing to appear in Cape Girardeau County Court and for resisting arrest in St. Genevieve County.
