Back-to-School forecast: Highs to drop below average by end of week

SAN DIEGO (FOX5/KUSI)-- As parents get their children ready to head back to the classroom, hot conditions will begin to subside.

Coastal and inland neighborhoods will be within a few degrees of where they should be at this time of year.

San Diego forecast planner:
7 a.m.: 67 degrees
11 a.m.: 72 degrees
3 p.m.: 76 degrees

The eastern part of San Diego County is still dealing with hot days.

The mountains are under a Heat Advisory until Monday at 8 p.m. The National Weather Service forecast models show that highs will be 88 to 98 degrees.

The desert is under an Excessive Heat Warning until Tuesday at 8 p.m. The risk for heat-related illness is elevated. The National Weather Service reports highs will range from 111 to 115 degrees.

Borrego: 114 degrees

By the end of the week, temperatures are expected to drop below average across most of the county.
