SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Authorities have identified a 35-year-old man who died after just one day in jail.
The San Diego Sheriff's Department on Friday released the identity of 35-year-old Steven Curren, who died at the San Diego Central Jail after experiencing a medical emergency.
Curren died on Aug. 30 just one day after being arrested on Aug. 29, and was facing charges for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
Deputies were notified around 3:08 p.m. on Aug. 30 that Curren was in medical distress inside his cell, the sheriff's department reports. Deputies began life-saving measures and paramedics took him to the hospital where he died just over an hour later.
