Arrest made in north St. Louis County shooting
CLAYTON, Mo. – A St. Louis man is in custody for a shooting last month in north county.
According to a spokeswoman for the St. Louis County Police Department, the shooting happened on the afternoon of Sept. 19 in the 11000 block of Landseer Drive, just off Dunn Road, north of Interstate 270.
Police said George P. Spates approached the victim while the victim sat in his car, a Chevrolet Traverse, outside his home and opened fire.
Spates was arrested on Oct. 3 and admitted to the shooting.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Spates with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action. Spates remains jailed on a $25,000 cash-only bond. He’s scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 14 for a bond reduction hearing and on Nov. 6 for a preliminary hearing.
