APA Missouri announces new facility to tackle pet overcrowding

ST. LOUIS – For over a century, the Animal Protective Association of Missouri has been connecting pets in their future families. With so many pets in need homes, the organization is taking a significant step forward by announcing the construction of a new facility in north St. Louis.

“The project will take place in two phases. The first phase will focus on the adoption center veterinary care, wellness, and pet owner support programs. The second phase will be focused on youth and community education programs,” Sarah Javier, president and CEO of APA Missouri, said.

The new building aims to strengthen the bond between humans and animals, while addressing the critical issue of pet overcrowding.

Construction is set to begin in early 2026.
