Annual breast cancer walk in San Diego to be held at Snapdragon Stadium

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the city of San Diego is showing its support by hosting its annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

The 28th annual walk will be held Sunday, Oct. 19, with SDSU Mission Valley River Park and Snapdragon Stadium serving as the hosting sites.

You can sign up for the event here. Although registration is free, donations are always encouraged to help reach the $1 million fundraising goal. You can join the walk solo or sign up as part of a team.

The three-mile, non-competitive walk will start at 9 a.m. inside Mission Valley River Park and will proceed through the Trolley Station, then around Snapdragon Stadium, before returning to the park.

Parking at the stadium is free and conveniently located within walking distance of the check-in and Main Event Area. Attendees are also encouraged to utilize the trolley on the day of the walk. Check the MTS Trolley Schedule to plan your route.

Even if you are unable to walk during the annual event, you can still make a contribution to the cause. You can donate here, and every dollar received goes towards the fight to end breast cancer. Participants can also become sponsors to ensure local survivors and supporters are celebrated in their community.

Registered participants can check in at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the event.

According to the press release from the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the U.S., with an estimated 32,860 new cases being diagnosed in California in 2025.
