4 counties unite to build advanced police training center

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - The Gateway Regional Law Enforcement Training Center has been announced as a collaborative effort between St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County and Franklin County to enhance police training.

The center will feature advanced training facilities, including replicas of urban streets, a home interior, virtual reality simulator rooms and a specialized firing range.

This initiative--which has been in development for 17 years--aims to equip law enforcement officers with the necessary tools to better serve their communities.

A $50 million state grant will fund the construction of the training center. Despite this news, there is no word yet on when the groundbreaking will be announced.

"This new collaboration will encompass four different counties and many of the municipalities that participate. It'll bring regionalism, giving officers the absolute best possible training that's available under one roof," Sheriff Dave Marshak said.
