SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A two-day free festival celebrating the cultural arts of the Philippines returns to Balboa Park this weekend.

Back for its 38th year, SamaFest will bring musical performances, arts and crafts, and food to Balboa Park. The name of the festival refers to the Filipino word "samahan," which roughly translates to "coming together."

Dozens of vendors will be participating at the event, including Kapu Coffee, which specializes in cold brew beverages, and Pacific Island Crave, which serves Guamanian, Hawaiian and Filipino dishes.

FOX 5/KUSI anchors Phil Blauer and Maria Arcega-Dunn will be among the co-hosts of the festival's programming.

SamaFest will be held at the Presidents Way lawn near the corner of Park Boulevard on Saturday, Aug. 23 and Sunday, Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Singers Jesse Barrera and Albert Posis, both of whom are from San Diego, will headline Sunday's performances. Both Filipino-American artists have garnered a dedicated fanbase of thousands of subscribers on YouTube.
