3 in custody after dropping shooting victim off at hospital
ST. LOUIS – A young adult and two juveniles are in custody after dropping a shooting victim off at Barnes-Jewish Hospital late Wednesday afternoon.
According to Mitch McCoy, a spokesman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the shooting itself took place somewhere in the city’s Walnut Park East neighborhood.
The 19-year-old shooting victim was left at the hospital. Staff contacted police after seeing the car speed away.
The vehicle did not get far, crashing into another car on Kingshighway between Laclede and Pine. Hospital security officers detained the people in the car until police arrived. The driver of the bystander vehicle suffered serious injuries, FOX 2 has learned.
McCoy said police found guns and drugs in the car.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, but SLMPD has requested its homicide unit due to the nature of the 19-year-old's condition.
