28-year-old identified in fatal Fairground shooting

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) have provided updates in the fatal shooting death of a 28-year-old man in the Fairground neighborhood on Sept. 25.

Six days after the homicide, SLMPD has identified the victim as Malik McDile.

According to officials, SLMPD received a call regarding reports of a shooting in the 4500 block of Fair Avenue around 11:50 p.m.

When police arrived at the scene, they located McDile inside a car, suffering a gunshot wound to the head.

The 28-year-old was rushed to the hospital but died from his injuries. SLMPD says that the victim was unable to provide a statement before he passed away.

Homicide detectives are still searching for a suspect, as their investigation remains ongoing.
