2 sentenced for armed robbery of 'mobile barber' in Jennings
ST. LOUIS - Two St. Louis-area men have been sentenced in connection with the armed robbery or a "mobile barber" in Jennings in 2023.
A federal judge has sentenced Keshaun Smith to 8 years and 2 months in prison, and Andrew Giles to 8 years and 9 months in prison over charges of robbery and brandishing of a firearm in furtherance of the robbery.
According to federal court documents, on May 8, 2023, the victim went to a home on Garesche Avenue to cut Smith’s hair.
Nearly 15 minutes into the haircut, Giles arrived to the home and parked his car on the street, leaving the car with an apparent pistol.
As the victim finished cutting Smith's hair, Giles and another suspect entered the home. Smith picked up a weapon that belonged to the victim, and the trio robbed him of his possessions.
During the robbery, the victim was struck across his face and suffered a frontal skull fracture.
Investigators say Smith was seen after the robbery walking on Garesche Avenue openly carrying a firearm that was believed to be stolen from the victim.
A news release from the U.S. Department of Justice did not indicate whether the third suspect was identified or charged.
