17-year-old shot following altercation in National City park
NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI)-- A 17-year-old boy was found shot at Kimball Park in National City on Friday.
The shooting happened around 8:20 p.m. after an altercation between a group of young men, according to the National City Police Department.
Officers say they initially responded to a "shots fired" report at the park. When they arrived on the scene, they found the 17-year-old victim who had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound, according to the report.
The victim was transported to a local trauma unit to receive treatment for the injury.
According to the report, the suspect fled from the scene before the officers arrived.
This case is still under investigation, and detectives are asking the public if they have any information regarding the incident.
