1 burglar, 8 days, 18 business break-ins: Police
CLAYTON, Mo. – A man accused of breaking into more than a dozen south St. Louis County businesses in August appeared in court Tuesday morning.
Police and prosecutors allege Devin J. Marcee (age not provided) broke into 18 businesses between Aug. 17 and Aug. 24 in Affton, Lemay, Mehlville, and Oakville. In addition, Marcee is accused of trying to steal an ATM as well as trying to steal and riding in two different vehicles.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, Macree would smash the glass entrance doors and run inside to steal items and pull register drawers open to look for cash.

For the attempted ATM theft, police said Macree targeted the CNBC Bank in the 9100 block of Mackenzie Road. Macree wrapped a chain around the machine, attached the chain to the bumper of his car, and tried to drive away. While the machine didn’t break free, Macree caused of $50,000 in damages.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Marcee with 15 counts of second-degree burglary, one count of first-degree property damage, three counts of second-degree attempted burglary, one count of attempted stealing a motor vehicle, and one count of second-degree attempted tampering with a motor vehicle. Marcee was jailed on a $250,000 bond.
